This dog teethes the doll
tapping its arm
to hear an old familiar tune
I hear
Jingle Bells
coming from under a paw
on the hardwood,
now a ricochet
down a hallway.

This dog's teeth are breaking
tiny filaments of food
from a bowl
reflecting fur
over a stripéd tray
around.
