It has been hard to think of what to write about recently. I think this cardboard sign is what is posted to my head and heart just now. Any ideas?

It's 10am Wednesday in Barcelona, and since the fireworks haven't started, one can tell that the mood is subdued.
I understand that Ohio hangs in the balance, and Kerry's and the world's fortunes therewith.

If Ohio fails for John Kerry, it will be remembered as the place that the conscience of the United States of America has been finally locked in the dungeon of ignorance and willful blindness in the service of smug certainty, greed, and religious bigotry.

Regardless, I am still optimistic that much of the rest of the world will remain, as now, welcoming to Americans of intelligence and kindness. The Europeans do not hate America, or Americans. However, they are astounded by the depth of ignorance and mindless support of the Bush/Cheney oligarchy.

I am also very optimistic that the networking which has taken root in the past two years will grow stronger and more assured over the next months. While Spain lived under Franco for forty years, I don't think it will take a generation to get the US back on track. I look forward to continuing the struggle against the Bush regime, if must be, and I look forward to continuing the good friendships and connections which have already grown so strong over the past years.

We are faced, if indeed the cards fall against us, with a cognitive dissonance, deriving from our certainty that Bush is neither intellectually nor morally competent to spend a single penny of the wealth of the nation. This has been proven thoroughly and conclusively, the evidence is available to all in every daily newspaper. Yet, somehow millions upon millions vote for him, some are our neighbors, and indeed, sadly, some even our friends and family.

If Ohio fails us, I hope that instead of somber collapse, the Progressive left will instead celebrate the victories to come, and renew the struggle for decency, fairness, equality, and tolerance. Optimism and love are the best revenge, and indeed the only strategy for long term survival!

Be a Cognitive Dissident! Refuse to succumb to the Rove Ray, designed to discourage and despair!

Onward! With love to all my dear friends and family wherever you are!

Play for Peace!

PS Since social programs will surely be cut further, be sure to give to your local Food Pantry before Thanksgiving, and keep on giving as much as you can all year. Also, Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, Natural Resources Defense Council, Greenpeace and other NGOs will be on the front lines dealing with the repercussions of the failure to change regimes at home. I will be doubling my annual contribution to the ACLU, since we're gonna need all the help we can get.
